Watercolor animation is characterized by diverse patterns and specific textures, which occur during the painting and drying process. Thus, in the field of non-photorealistic computer graphics, the production of watercolor paintings is one of the most intricate and complex processes.
Directed and animated by Matvey Rezanov Since the piece is based on a Chinese legend, Matvey mostly used sumi ink, a traditional ink used in calligraphy and brush painting.

'Waiting' is a short animated film about different reasons and ways of waiting. Will Kim uses watercolor as a main tool to animate his dream about his friend Simon who passed away after a long and patient fight with a rare illness. Simon was the bravest and warmest man who fearlessly waited to be with his friends, family, and God. In the film, when everyone is gone and left with a physical emptiness, our spirits remain in the same places. ©2007 Will Kim All Rights Reserved

A short film about winter.
Snow is particularly joyful in how it transforms everything it coversThe brightness of its white forces the iris in your eye to shut way down, and suddenly everything that isn’t snow is in silhouette or defined by shadow. The world becomes a high-contrast graphic representation of itself. This distillation of form allowed me to focus on painting pure motion in relation to the winter landscape.
This film is composed of approximately 2,250 watercolor paintings on paper. It is a kind of winter companion to my film “L’Eau Life,” although here the water is frozen and therefore much easier to paint — because painting snow mostly means leaving the paper white.

A 2D animation made with watercolor paintings for the backgrounds to give a cut out style, digital drawings on photoshop for the girl, and everything was combined on after effects. I don't own any of the songs played in this animation. I only own the animation itself.

This video for Sim-patia is aimed at raising awareness about their cause to help promote volunteering and fundraising. For a non-profit organization, this type of video represents the “fishing rod not the fish itself.” We opted for Motion graphics because it allows us to approach delicate themes with a more poetic visual language: Suggesting not showing. In our opinion, part of the mission of a non-profit organization is also to invest into its communication strategy and deliver the message with professionalism but also with care and passion, and sometimes… courage. Making this video has been a truly gratifying and emotional experience which has made us extremely proud.
